The aim of the dissertation is to conduct a statistical investigation into the determinants of Internet access in the United Kingdom based on household survey data and present insights into its current and future evolution.

Structure of dissertation
The dissertation structure is composed of a literature review, methodology and data and discussions section. The literature review section exists primarily for the purpose of collecting different research opinions on the subject of internet use motivations and determinants. Different researchers have approached the subject in various perspectives and a collation of these perspectives is useful for creating a research methodology and framework of student. The research methodology chapter presents the methods of research and data collection that was undertaken. The quantitative research methodology was used here as this methodology was useful for assessing pertinent data in a more scientific and empirical way. The use of qualitative research methodology in this work would not have aided in understanding and assessing the statistical estimates. The Data collected is presented in the data and discussion sections, where empirical and macro level frameworks for analysis are used to understand the significance of the determinants as observed from common household data.

The industry section is to present data on the industry, the graphs and internet changes from secondary sources. Different key themes in data are presented here. This includes research on socio-economic determinants for internet usage within the UK and other countries, or general studies on why it is necessary to study these determinants.
