One of the advantages in food industry that has come with branded players is the improvement in the general quality of the food, be it packed or open food. Not only food quality at restaurants have improved but also packed food in retails stores have seen vast improvement in quality. With development in product quality and increasing purchasing power of the society Branded food items have a great significance and relevance in food industry. Food industry can be divided into two segments; one is restaurants and eating joints etc and second is packed food. Brand has a great relevance especially in restaurants business. People in general love to visit known restaurants. For a restaurant of known brand it is easy to position itself. In food industry Brand provides a unique identification and differentiating feature to the organization. Talking about packed food business, people buy packed food from reliable source only. (Anderson, 1992) They spend money on packed food only if known is source, here branding comes very useful. It has been observed that sale of branded packed items is more than sale of unbranded packed items. Actually people are not able to trust on unbranded packed items. This stands true in case of take away and home deliveries also. In packed food items branded items definitely has an edge over unbranded items. People cal also gets back and complains to owners of the companies, this might not be the case for unbranded food items.
