Bargaining power of suppliers
Crowne Plaza was significantly affected by the decline in buying power of consumers. However, it has now gain momentum and thoroughly attracting customers from all over the world. Hotel industries like Crowne Plaza are dependent on environmental conditions to a significant level.
Threat of new entrants
Hotel industry is flourishing to a significant level and many hotel industries are operating at small or large levels. Thus, there is a constant threat for Crowne Plaza as these competitors are emerging with more competitively strong business strategies. However, it has achieved great market penetration and has been implementing many effective customer relationship strategies that are helping the luxurious hotel chain to maintain its prominent position in the market.
Threat of substitutes
It has insignificant threat from substitutes as hotel industry has no substitutes that could influence revenue generation of the hotel (Hill and Jones, 2009). However, at the time of recession, international travelling may remain confined till domestic travelling thereby restricting money from overseas.
Bargaining power of buyers
Hotel industries are least affected by bargaining until and unless it itself reduces cost due to off season trends. In context to Crowne Plaza which is a luxurious hotel chain, there is a least scope for bargaining power of suppliers associated with supply of inventory. In addition to this, suppliers have least scope of bargaining as there is a great competition between suppliers in the market.
