According to Elsie Elliott’s writings, there are three main reasons that made her change from a religious activist to political activist. The first one is her preconceptions from life experiences. Despite the sadness, she believed that tradition missionary is a puppet that control by colonial powers. For this point, I will quote more example details for next chapter. Second, religious disillusionment, when Elsie Elliott went to China and Hong Kong, both two places gave her an impressive image – political chaos in the reason had caused people to feel that it was difficult to survive; it had made her mindset change from missionary to political activist. The last reason, was being influenced by a different social circle and later the Reform Club of Hong Kong’s members.

He had helped Elsie gain a new perspective and insights about the issues faced by the people. Elsie cited that he was a very altruistic person and had helped in shaping her political ideals. Another close friend of Tu and Elsie was Andrew. He was from inner Mongolia and had often cited a number of issues about the suffering of the people. All the three people together had long discussions about the political climate and often wondered about the real ways to he?
