Research is an activity aimed at obtaining new knowledge and, through them, occasionally problems or questions are solved. Research topic is extremely important as it reflects upon the entire direction of the research and the information it seeks to find. A good research topic should be very clear about the aims and objectives of the research. It should be such that the results of the research provide valuable information which helps the cause of the respective subject. Research ideas can be subjected to a special system of rules. The ideas should lead to a clear and definite conclusion, be falsifiable and testable, and always be identical in their representation. These should not contradict any thesis accepted. It is not limited to any thesis accepted and it contains no logical contradiction. These should be proven with verifiable facts.
A research proposal should comprise of the following elements:
- Title of research: This should express the issue or problem under investigation clearly, precisely and completely. If one finds it too general or extended, one must use one or more subtitles in order to clarify or define the content area or study.
- Name, grade, position and direction of the investigator.
- Name of institution or entity which conducted the investigation, stating the academic unit (faculty, institute, etc.)..
- Name of entity that will administer the funds.
- Approximate budget of the total funds required for the projected period to carry out the proposed research.
- Amount requested for the first stage. May be several, if seeking support from various funding sources.
- Signature of principal investigator and the person holding the legal representative of the institution, which will be responsible for formally submitting the funding request (rector, director, dean, etc.).
