Communication is a process that consists of three steps: encoding, channel and decoding. Encoding is the process by which people transfer their thoughts into symbolic form, then they interact with others to convey this message, which is called channel and then lastly they listen to and interpret others’ feedback which is called decoding. Management theories provide a set of essential principles for conducting the communication process that, if applied well, can enhance the success of our interactions.

On my job, one of the biggest problems that I was facing the absence of such proper communication as there was a very big communication gap between different departments and the workers there. The people at warehousing really didn’t know what the people at sales were doing and vice-versa. As a sales executive, this turned out to be frustrating at times because I had to deal with clients directly and when I didn’t have the updated inventory, promising delivery to clients was impossible. This directly affected my sales targets and my reputation at work.
