Frederick Taylor suggested Scientific Management theory which emphasizes on the importance of work processes and procedures. He suggested that the work should be broken down further into tasks and subtasks and then decision should be made on what is the best possible way to complete those subtasks. This way the work becomes simpler and manageable. On the other hand, Max Weber theory says that the organization can best be managed by bureaucratic management. He advocated the six principles of bureaucratic management which are: proper division of labour, chain of command, separation of personal and official property, application of consistent and complete rules, selection and promotion on the basis of qualification . He was of the view that companies should follow rules and regulations to operate ignoring the time which would be involved in following the processes.

However, the theories given by Frederick Taylor and Max Weber do not hold true for the contemporary organizations and managers since the working pattern and style has changed over the years and it has become much more complicated. This is because the employees and the management indulge in multi tasking. The decision making process is no longer handled single handedly by the management but it includes the voice of the employees as well.He said that the promotions should be based solely on qualification and degrees and people who have these should be allowed to be considered for advancement. In the current scenario, this does not hold much importance as there are other parameters along with the qualification which share equal importance when it comes to promoting the employee.
