Analysis of Integrated Supply chain system

It has been found that integrated supply chain systems rely on each other to develop an overall efficient process to meet the consumer demands and expectation. An integrated supply chain primarily uses management techniques to work together to ensure that there is a collective growth and performance for all the stakeholder involved in the process. It can be visualized as a group of vertical integrated companies that work towards a common objective of meeting goals. Vertical integration of the companies is referred to the act where the company assumes and maintains control over many of the procedures and the production steps. It can be carried out by forward integration or backward integration which is again dependent on the primary objective of the company (Rushton, Croucher, & Baker, 2014). It should be understood that all the supply chains are to an extent dependent on each other. The primary objective is to ensure that there is integration and coordination of the relevant activities.

In the case of traditional companies that are not managed, there could be adversarial relationships that could occur between the stakeholders and the company will not be able to meet the demands (Melo, Nickel, & Saldanha-da-Gama, 2009)). These strains in the relationships will be caused by lack of effective communication and the focus will be on the cost. There will be no regards to the shared values of beliefs. The short term focus of the company will not be beneficial for the long term sustenance of the companies.

The companies that want to have an efficient supply chain management should have certain variables clearly defined. There should be inventory management, transport management, material handling, operational control over the transport arrangement, warehouse management to name a few. The supply chain management in the newer era should also have control over the customer service performance, order processing, operational analysis management, distribution strategy and computer simulation and effective budget forecasting (Gunasekaran, Lai, & Cheng, 2008). There is effective collaboration with the latest technological advancement to address the newer emerging requirements. One of the most popular supply chain integration is the e-business model.
