Assessment and feedback practices when considered from a non-internationalized perspective would not offer many insights into the form of opportunities that exist for the international student to better improve their learning. When institutional performance is measured through standardized and non-inclusive ways, then the student learning perspectives are understood but causality cannot be assumed, meaning, “the presence and quality of a given set of institutional activities or the participation rates in various courses or programs do not tell institutions about what students are learning through these learning opportunities” (Green, 2012, p.2).

Therefore, it is essential to explore impact of assessment practices on international student’s experience in internalization and studies in order to improve their experience. Added to this, feedback practices are just as important. Laurillard (1993) stated that “action without feedback is completely unproductive for the learner. This principle applies throughout our lives as well as in educational settings: we use intrinsic and extrinsic feedback to guide our actions and the development of our thoughts, values and ways-of-being. Whether practitioners adopt a neo-behaviourist, cognitivist, socio-constructivist, or post-modern perspective on learning, feedback has a central role to play” (p. 61). The standard non-inclusive assessment and feedback practices that are closely related to curriculum or career alone cannot be sufficient. The research gap hence is to explore the impact of assessment and feedback practices on their experience of internationalized education.
