Space and colour plays a very important role and it is very important that while designing the store the designer and the store owner should keep this in mind. Colour plays a very important role and different colours are associated with different emotions and also each colour has different meaning (van et al, 2012). Colour also plays very important role in different culture and different cultures have different meaning for colours. Every colour has certain meaning and some have positive or negative meaning. Each colour also has impact the fashion and the store have to decide the colour according to the change with the changing time (van et al, 2012).
Colours are important because they influence the perceptual and also the emotional reaction of the customer and they also help in achieving the certain type of reaction. So every colour is set according to the culture and the wavelengths that match the sentiments of people and their religious and cultural values. There are two types of wavelengths which are short wavelength and long wavelength. While on one hand short wavelength represents cool colours like violet and blue on the other hand long wavelength represents warm colours like red and orange (Spence et al, 2014).
So many researches have been conducted and concluded that the reaction to the colour is the psychological factor, but the colour when collide with other factors like behavioural factors, it may lead to meeting different reactions (Spence et al, 2014). Research also proved that colour plays a very important role in getting the consumer reactions.
Colour also plays a very important role for different countries and stores have to use the colour accordingly (Mehta &Chugan, 2014). For example, in North America and Europe white is the colour of the wedding while in some other countries like India, China and many other traditional countries white means mourning. In many countries like India colour plays a very important role and many colours are worshipped and respected. So while deciding the colour for the store the owner has to keep the psychological attachment with the colour of the particular country in mind (Hidayetoglu et al, 2012).
