The invention of television has changed the lives of all the humans in a lot of ways. Television nowadays has made it much easier and less expensive for the people to get new information about everything that is going on in life. In the past people had to depend on other sources to get information like the newspapers, radios etc. There are many television programs broadcasted on television which create violence amongst the people and can thus have a negative effect on the people of a country. Two television programmes which I have watched recently are ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Mentalist’, both the shows are American Television Programs. Game of Thrones is a television series which demonstrates story about violence related to dynastic struggle. Mentalist is a series which based on stories about criminals and the kind of crimes that they have committed. Television programs are such a source which provides people with information that can be achieved instantly without going anywhere else but they are also a source which can be a source of creating violence in the minds of the people (Buijzen & Valkenburg, 2003). Thus it is very much possible that television programs like Game of Thrones and Mentalist can influence the thought process of the people and thus make them take decisions and buy products which they would not have thought of. People when see these programs they get influenced with the kind of stylish clothes the characters wear the kind of well kept and modern houses they show. It is natural to get influenced by the aura these American shows portray and thus viewers too wish to have such homes with modern amenities and stylish wardrobe.
